Checker driver showcases Calgary
Checker driver Jatinder (Jass) Tatla not only wowed the crowd at the 57th Tourism Calgary White Hat Annual Awards, by winning Most Exceptional Customer Service for a driver earlier this year, he was recently named International Driver of the Year from the International Association of Transportation Regulators (IATR). He was presented the prestigious award at the international convention hosted in Calgary.
Jass lives and breathes customer service, making every customer in his cab an honoured guest. He has a special rapport with his customers; he hosts a corporate dinner every year, inviting all of his clients to share in a traditional dining experience.
He prides himself on knowing every Calgary event so he can inform his out of town guests what is happening in the city. There is no street in the city he doesn’t know.
Jass was presented the award at the Hotel Fairmont Palliser by president of IATR and Chief Livery Inspector of Livery Transport Services. Kurt Enders, president of The Checker Transportation group said, Jass is an ambassador to our city. Our company couldn’t be more proud of him, his dedication to Checker but mostly his loyalty to customers.”
According to Jass, he was humbled by this significant award, stating, “there are hundred of great drivers at Checker deserving of this award. I simply treat every guest in my cab as I would in my home.”
Jass has driven taxi for ten years moving to Checker three years ago. The Enders, a Calgarian family, owns Checker Cabs. There are 1,400 drivers and 910 cabs making it one of the largest in Canada. While they have won many awards, this is the first international award from IATR.
