Have you heard the song, “I’ve been everywhere man,” sung by Johnny Cash?  Well, this song could be about our 1,400 drivers because they ARE everywhere. No matter where you roam in Calgary there’s our trademark yellow cab #rightaroundthecorner.

With over 900 cabs on the road we’re hiring more professional drivers at Checker.  You can become your own boss, make your own hours, take the kids to school and be home for dinner. It’s up to you the amount of time you want to spend behind the wheel.

More and more drivers are driving for Checker! Isn’t it time you did?

It’s no wonder with almost half of the taxi plates in Calgary drivers make the switch to Checker.

Sure, there are choices in YYC but it’s Checker that attracts professional drivers. We have flexible hours, the most taxi stands, the newest technology, City of Calgary and School Board accounts and staff that make the drivers a priority.

We’re always making additions to our App and enhancing the technology in our cars. Recently, we installed over 900 new tablets giving the customers a variety of ways to pay for their trip.  What about the Checker Bike Racks? We pick up about 500-600 trips per month, putting more money in your pockets.

We’re the only taxi company in Calgary with In-House training for our drivers. We want to make certain not only is your car road ready, but you are as well. With our new online portal, applying to be a Checker driver couldn’t be easier. Click on this link to apply. We have Road Supervisors assisting drivers and customers. All of our cabs are installed with video and audio technology. Checker does everything to keep our drivers safe. Year after year, we service upwards of 4 M trips, including thousands of pickups for our corporate clients. We also have standby trips making picking up customers a breeze.

Do we like to have fun at Checker? You bet we do – we host six BBQs a year, inviting our drivers and families. We work with Tourism Calgary and give out hundreds of Front Line Experience passes for free – get to know the city on our dime. The more you know, the more you can tell your customers. Do you love the circus? For the past three years, Checker has given out 1,000 Royal Canadian Circus tickets to drivers so they can enjoy quality time with their loved ones.

We advertise and support our local teams, cheering them to victory and driving the fans home after the big win. We even have drivers wearing their Flames jerseys on game day to show our Calgary pride. You might even see Checker Cabs flying the Flames, Stamps or Cavalry flags on their cars.

During Stampede, you will see Checker drivers #rightaroundthecorner, dressed up like cowboys, in decorated cabs making sure we pick up everyone. When the parties wind down, it is a sea of yellow at every hot spot.
